so yesterday morning i downloaded the latest update to the 360 dashboard, which included the new ‘avatars’ features, which some (nintendophiles) say is a rip off of miis on the wii, and yet others (xboxophiles) say was in the original plans for the 360, just didn’t get implemented until now. i say both of them are using the avatar concept that’s been around for, uh… ever.
we could argue the finer points all day, but for me it comes down to this: while the xbox 360 avatars seem to have somewhat less of a selection of eyes/ears/noses/etc., they have a metric a$$load of cloting options that is going to expand and expand with prizes from games and downloads from marketplace. (ps – to the people who are going to whine about how m$ makes you pay for little stuff like avatar clothes: vote w/ your dollar and don’t freaking buy any. it worked with the horse armor…)
anyway, here’s my avatar (right) and the gamer picture i created for my gamercard (upper left).
you know the only thing i wish they’d add to the avatar thing at this point, is a choice of how you want the character to stand, like when you position your characters in the awesome rock band photo creator. i may be a g33k, but i don’t stand like that dork-a$$ avatar…
